Reactive Dog Group Classes and Private Training Lessons

I offer evaluations for group classes and teach group reactive dog classes . I also offer private lessons for dogs that are preparing to enter reactive dog group classes and/or dogs who need or prefer one-on-one instruction.

Does your dog bark and/or lunge at other dogs, people or objects? Do you avoid or worry about taking your dog on walks because of how they may react? Our reactive dog classes will help your dog learn that the world is not such a scary place! We will teach you how to look for and reward calming behaviors and help you understand your dog's need for space. We will practice new behaviors that are alternative to barking and lunging and help make positive associations for your dog.

These classes are for dog/human teams who haven't taken a reactive dog class before or would like a refresher on their skills. Classes are 50 minutes long and held for 8 weeks. As always, we have a high instructor to dog ratio and will work with your dog to keep them feeling safe. The fee for the class is $250.

Email me to learn more about the class and how to register.

Scent Classes

Now offering non-competitive scent classes.

Reactive and fearful dog friendly!

Intro to: Scent For Fun!

“Scent for Fun" is an eight-week class that meets for one hour each week. Your dog will learn fun games to search for food. This dog activity is gaining popularity, as its a fun way to work your dog's brain. It is ideal for active dogs, dogs with physical limitations and every dog in between! Dogs that are human and/or dog reactive can play, too! Dogs learn to search boxes and other objects for hidden food. Handlers learn how to read their dog's body language to understand when they’ve found the scent. For more experienced dogs and handlers, food and odors can be paired or dogs can search for scent alone. The 8 week session is $180.

Scent for Fun!, Cont’d.

Offered as a drop-in or class package, this class is for teams that have completed “Intro to: Scent for Fun!” or have equivalent experience. Each week, we will continue to play scent games to work your dog’s brains, hone their sniffing skills and have fun! Food alone or hidden scent will be paired with food for those newer to searching.

The 8 weeks session is $160 or $25 per drop-in class.

Please email me with any questions.

Dog Parkour Classes

From the International Dog Parkour Association website:

Dog parkour combines elements of human parkour and dog agility to create an accessible activity for dogs and humans alike. Dogs get introduced to the world of jumping, climbing, balancing over, crawling under, and going around different obstacles in their everyday world. Parkour can be done anywhere and is limited only by one’s imagination. Dog parkour helps with confidence and overcoming fears, and it is a low impact but challenging activity for any canine athlete.

Dog parkour is a perfect opportunity for dog and human pairs who want to explore and interact with their environment in a fun, non-competitive way, focusing on consent, safety, and their relationship as a team. It’s a great activity for retired sports dogs, reactive or fearful dogs and “teenage” dogs learning to focus in public.

I am a certified dog parkour instructor through the International Dog Parkour Association and have earned several IDPKA titles with my dog, Zinnia.

Stay tuned to my Facebook page for periodic offerings of workshops and for adventures with SuperNova Dogs around Western New York. Contact me to schedule private dog parkour lessons and learn about group classes (coming soon)!

Adolescent A*Holes

Do you feel like your sweet puppy was replaced with a difficult teenager overnight? Adolescence can be a frustrating phase of development for dog owners. This class is designed to specifically address the over-arousal and impulse control issues your adolescent dog is experiencing.

Adolescent dogs (6 months to 2 years depending on breed) can be hard to live with. It’s the age when dogs are most relinquished to the shelter and they can be very frustrating to own.

This mini class is designed to build on your dog’s early training. Over the course of 4 weeks, we will concentrate on impulse control, relaxation exercises, mental enrichment and learning to focus in the great, big world. These life skills will help your dog mature from a crazy teenager to a well-rounded adult.

Your teenage pup driving you crazy? Let me know! I can answer any questions about the class and help you get registered for the next session.
